Most of the jet printers that are currently presented on the market use
dye based ink. This ink is a solution of dye particles in water and has been used for many years already. Since the size of particles is small (near molecule size) this ink guarantees excellent photographic quality of printing. But it doesn't have only good properties. The main fault of dye based ink is poor resistance against light. Inside a building an imprint might last from 5 to 15 years, but outside its life duration decreases to several weeks or even days. Another drawback of dye ink that it gets blur and washed away by water if an image is printed on a regular paper. But its low price makes this ink the most popular.
