Sublimation ink is a special kind of pigment ink on water basis that has special properties: with heat applied pigment turns into gas bypassing liquid state. Being a gas it penetrates polyester or any othe material covered with polyester - metal, ceramics, glass, plastic, wood and so on and becomes part of the cover itself. That's why an item (t-shirt or a cup for example) can be washed without any problems.
